Hedgehog Rescue needs new shed in 2019

Donation protected
We run a small, self funded Hedgehog rescue in the Beccles area on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. We use our spare room for the littlest ones and then progress them out into a large shed on our drive as they become stronger and finish medications. The big shed is also used to overwinter autumn juveniles who have not made hibernation weight in time to be released before winter sets in and they hibernate in there until they awaken in spring. The shed has power in it for lights and more importantly, heatmats to keep juveniles warm enough that they won't try to hibernate until they have gained enough weight to survive the process.
This shed is on its last legs being more than 12 years old and is becoming a significant drain on our finances, just trying to keep it watertight and in one piece.
The floor collapsed in one corner from damage caused by rats trying to get in and rot which required jacking the corner back up and supporting with bricks but the rot will only get worse. The roof needs new felt but has been coated in emergency repair paint after several leaks the last couple of weeks and has also started to sag. This caused water to pool making the leaks and sagging worse. Some sections and battens have been replaced but more needs doing every weekend and it's a losing battle.
We can nurse it through the winter I hope but we can't justify throwing money at it constantly when it's a losing battle and we need help.
Without your kindness, 2019 is going to see us have to severely cut back on the amount of help and number of hedgehogs we can deal with until such time as we can save up enough to replace it. This will be a big blow to us and the other rescues locally who are already strained to breaking point.
We are looking at many different ways to raise money, making and selling soap and crafts being one of them.
The money will be used to purchase a pressure treated workshop style shed as they are built a lot sturdier and will therefore last a lot longer, electrical work to get it reconnected with more sockets, proper lighting, insulation, chicken wire underneath to deter rats and fitting out with shelving and storage. The total cost on paper is about £5000 with the rest coming from our savings, belt tightening and any other ways we can raise money.

We also have a PayPal me link on the Facebook page and an Amazon wishlist. Anything given through those helps us save more for the shed as we are 99% self funded.
