Heart Warrior Camden
On March 12, 2014, when Camden was just 6 months old, he was diagnosed with Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. We went in to the cardiologist thinking he just had a heart murmur and wound up being rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital to spend 3 days being monitored under a pediatric cardiologists care. The words "hospital", "surgery", and "transplant" were thrown at us...we were heart broken and completely scared. We were released from the hospital with orders to make an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist more experienced with his condition.
Because of the severity of Camden's condition, we were referred to the transplant team at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston for his doctors visits. We were making visits every 3 months, and at each visit he had to have quite a few tests run...all of which cost quite a bit of money. We have since been extended to every 6 months, which is a huge relief because it means that our little Heart Warrior's heart is stable and not showing any signs of worsening or going into heart failure.
Because of his heart condition, getting sick is a little more severe for Camden. Just last week Camden woke up really struggling to breath. He was wheezing, sucking air, and had a horrible barking cough. I rushed him to the local ER where we then had to be airlifted to Methodist Children's Hospital. Upon arriving to the hospital, Camden was admitted to the PICU where he spent 2 days hooked up to oxygen, iv fluids, a heart monitor, and oxygen monitor. We were released a few days later with a diagnosis of croup caused by the flu.
We are so blessed that Camden is such a resiliant, headstrong, and brave little guy and we wouldn't change him for the world!! However, the financial burden that has come with this disease is quite a strain. So many people want to help in some way, but don't know how. We have created this account to help defray some of the medical expenses that he has/will accrue.
Please do not feel obligated to donate, all we ask is for prayers and to pass along his story.
Thank you all so much!
