Ciao everybody,
You may be wondering whats up with the picture of me on my Birthright leaders' shoulders on Mt. Masada. It has nothing to do with the focus of this GoFundMe. But I was asked for a picture and that just felt right.
Now for why we're here... as some of you fine individuals may know, I am embarking on a zig-zag-esque road trip following Phish around the country. That being said, we are about to see Lonny aka Londrel aka Lonald aka LonBoy be surrounded by the most incredible music and people in the whole wide world. I couldn't be more anxiously excited to dive into this journey in just a few days. (See you this weekend Gorge crew)!
If I must be honest, a road trip isn't complete without music, not just from the professionals, but from the many characters on the road sharing in the groove with you. For those who know Lonny Geller, they know I am never afraid to take my acoustic guitar with me and jam out for the people. It's something I do well and have a blast doing. Let's be real, I got my start at Camp Kinder Ring over a decade ago; serenading all the beautiful ladies since puberty. Everything starts at summer camp!
This GoFundMe is simply to help me out with purchasing an acoustic guitar when I land out West this week to take under my wing on this strange and wild trip. The joy and love that this guitar will provide to countless strangers and friends-to-be-made will be well worth it for a small donation. Lonny could not fully be himself without a guitar in hand. It's how I've met some of my closest friends and bonded with individuals I would've otherwise considered strangers. There is nothing more powerful than people connecting with music.
This support would mean more than I can express in these words that are being typed while listening to the beautiful song, Dog Faced Boy, thinking about the singalongs and jam sessions that could come out of this spontaneous decision to create a GoFundMe. But life is short, right?!
What I'm trying to say is that this support wouldn't just benefit me. It'd benefit the music-loving family, the late-night Curveball shenanigans, the wind from beyond the mountains, the Lizards, the Squirming Coils, and so forth. But in all seriousness, I just want to spread the love. An acoustic guitar that's gathering dust somewhere in Oregon could transform into my own personal instrument of funk, rock, blues, ballads, "Summer Hits of the '90's", etc...but only with your support.
Come to think of it, maybe this photo of me being bar mitzvah'd does have a connection to this donation. Think of it as a 'mitzvah' for me that'll allow me to perform 'mitzvahs' for others. If you're wondering what a mitzvah is, think of it as a moral deed. A gift. A contribution. Making a difference. Mitzvahs should have a positive impact on others.
If you made it through this entire post, I applaud you. I'm notorious for rambling on and losing my train of thought. I just have so much to say. Help Londrel keep the jams alive this Summer. You will not be sorry :)
