Health Insurance for the kids

Very recently I was let go from my job, our sole source of health insurance. We are eligbile to continue our coverage through COBRA so that we can maintain our current coverage at a very hefty price of $1970/mo.
We are desperate to keep everything the same because of our daughters recent illness as well as our sons mental health needs.
Our darling Piper contracted group A strep in the form of a severe sinus infection during the first week of February this year. Due to the nature and location of the infection it caused a brain abscess to form requiring emergency surgery which resulted in the removal of a large piece of bone in her forehead. After spending two weeks in hospital recovering, she was released with a PICC line and required 6 weeks of round the clock medication as well as weekly visits from a nurse. As a result of her illness Piper now has 4 different specialist doctors she has to see on a monthly basis and is required to wear a protective helmet. While she is now completely infection free she still requires another surgery to replace the bone removed from her forehead with a prosthetic piece.
Our very sweet and loving Leo has ADHD which requires two different daily medications. Weekly therapy as well as monthly visits to a neurologist. He struggles every day with his disability and the last thing we want is to make huge changes in his life or schedule in anyway.
Our loss of health insurance has caused us to postpone Piper’s follow up doctor visits and CT scan appointment which has pushed her surgery back by at least a month. We have had to pay out of pocket for Leo’s medication and weekly therapy sessions.
We are desperate to get our coverage back for at least this month and the next. Any help, in any way, would mean so much to our family.
