Healing and Dignity for Bella

On February 11, 2019 our dear friend Bella was brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend. She suffered facial fractures, partial vision loss, several broken ribs, a bruised kidney, multiple hairline fractures all over her body and tremendous property loss. Bella's attack happened more than a year AFTER she had the courage to leave her abuser. Since leaving her abuser, a high profile and charismatic executive, Bella has been stalked, assaulted, harassed and emotionally tortured. He uses his significant means to seek her out and harm her physically, emotionally and financially. His behavior has isolated her from many friends and her support system who can help -- they fear him just like she does.   

Bella has sought refuge in three states, five domestic violence shelters and countless hostels and hotels since being forced from her home in California. Her ex-boyfriend has found her multiple times by tracking her cell phone through spyware, credit cards, banks transactions, electronic communication and using RFID tags placed in her personal belongings. He has been arrested twice (in two different states) and charges were dropped due to lack of sufficient evidence and uncooperative witnesses. He continues to roam free while Bella lives in constant fear for her safety and well being. 

We, her friends, are raising money to allow Bella the time and space to heal from her injuries, live safely and pursue all of the legal, safety and medical remedies that she requires -- with dignity.

Your contributions and gifts will go toward providing Bella with:

1. life essentials including food, clothing, and a safe space to live; 

2. urgent and critical medical and vision treatments; 

3. replacing essential items destroyed by her ex-boyfriend during multiple attacks (eye glasses, cell phone, etc);

4. travel and other costs while seeking safe shelter and legal remedy for her abuse and injuries as well as a new identity;

5. professional protection to prevent her ex-boyfriend from stalking, tracking, and attacking her;

6. help to get her back on her feet and return to the work she loves.

Bella is a 40 year old former non-profit staff member who has dedicated her career to empowering youth and mentoring young women. Since leaving her abuser she has blown through her savings and sold virtually everything she owns to keep safe and healthy. Though she currently receives disability compensation and will be receiving a nominal amount of victim compensation she still needs financial support while receives vital treatment for her injuries, navigates the legal system, takes the steps to change her name, obtain a new social social security number, and find her forever home (all of these things are in process).  Bella's court date for her confidential name change is in mid-June 2019.

Even with the support of The California State Attorney General's Safe at Home Program and the San Francisco District Attorney's Victim's Services Unit - Bella continues to be abused and harassed. 

Everything you contribute will help a lovely, gracious and soft-spoken woman live with dignity while putting the pieces of a broken life back together. Your generosity will enable our sweet friend to build a new life without shame or fear and enable her to go back to the work that she loves. Bella lives with kindness, grace and compassion.
