Care for Millie

On July 11th (my birthday), I rescued a dog who had been hit by a car.  Her name is Millie.

I was on my way to an appointment, when I saw her flailing around in the road, screaming in pain. She was dragging her hind legs, terrified and hurting, but she let me approach her... in my heart of hearts, I know she was asking me for help.

So, I sat down with her. 

She put her head in my lap, and continued to cry while I frantically tried to call the number on her collar.  That's when a swarm of heroes surrounded us, including her 13 year old human-sister and best-friend.

Honestly, it felt like a miracle as I've never personally experienced such incredible teamwork and kindness by a group of strangers. 

We had a woman giving her reiki, several women calling the nearest emergency vet clinic, and two men found a platform so they could mobilize Millie's spine and lift her into my dog-car without further injury.  

With her human-sister comforting her in the back of my car, and mom following behind me, we got her to the emergency vet within 30 minutes of when I found her.  

On the way to the ER vet, I told Millie's sister that it was my birthday and my dad said that since I was born on 7-11, my birthday brings good luck.  

Thank DOG, Dad was right. Millie pulled through with a punctured lung and broken pelvis. She is expected to recover pretty well, but it will be a loooong and expensive road.  She's scheduled for surgery on July 18th, once her lung is healthy enough; and her vet bills are estimated to be $10K or higher.

So, I'm reaching out to my extended family of dog heroes, asking if you could help ease the financial burden on this family as they embark on this difficult journey.  

My goal is to help Millie get the care she needs and to show a 13 year old girl that the world is full of kindness.
