What is this?

The TAVtech Fellowship Program  is an intensive 5-week winter Coding and Entrepreneurship Fellowship in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Duration: Dec 23rd 2018 - Jan 20th 2019

What’s my point?

TAVtech is heavily subsidized but we still have expenses such as airfare, every day food and transport cost and other personal expenses throughout the program.

Cost Breakdown

Airfare:  estimated $1900 for a roundtrip flight per person
Food: estimated $35 per day for 30 days ($1050) per person
Non-negotiable Program Fee: $550 per person

Who are we?

My name is Travis Brown, a Sophomore Computer Science major at Howard University born and raised in Jamaica.

My fellow bison, Whitney Griffith, a Senior Computer Science major at Howard University born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago.

Mr. Travis Brown is currently a Sophomore Computer Science Major at Howard University from Jamaica. At Howard, Travis is an active member of Howard University’s Caribbean Students’ Association, Association for Computing Machinery and National Society of Black Engineers. Throughout his life he has displayed immeasurable passion towards working hard to achieve his goals in order to uplift his family back home. Since high school, he has been drawn to technology as he understood even then the endless possibilities that can occur through mastering tech and then applying said mastery to vastly improve his country. He is a Student Ambassador for Jumpstart , a company that connects diverse engineering students with top companies because he acknowledges how blessed he has been through the opportunities he has received since embracing tech and as such will like to remove the barriers of entry for others like himself, specifically his fellow generation in Jamaica. Additionally, he is a freelanced mobile app developer who is particularly interested in being part of the movement that will develop the Caribbean & African Markets.

This past summer he was rated as “Exceeds Expectation” by his manager at his Google Engineering internship,  and through the experience and mentorship he gained there he was more than happy to return the Google next summer. To Travis, tech entrepreneurship and education are a valuable tool that can help people of lower socio-economic background around the world to sustain themselves and achieve new heights. In summary, Travis is an enthusiastic learner, educator and social entrepreneur.
