Hawkwood Games Cafe

Your Dream Job. Do you have it? If not, what are you doing to get there? My wife asked me these questions two years ago and the answers were "no" and "nothing yet". 

My name is Ryan McConnell. Hi.




Until recently my workday was spent reviewing research grant contracts and budgets. 

My dream, however, is to create a place for people to come together and spend quality time around the table with their friends and family.  A local, community oriented shop where everyone feels welcome and everyone has fun. My dream also involves coffee. A Lot of coffee. And also  candy?   Let me tell you some specifics. 




Hawkwood Game Cafe will be a boardgame cafe on the green in downtown Milford, CT. We'll have a library of over 300 games for people to choose from, and will host regular weekly events including:

-Open table nights so you can come and meet new people.
-Trivia nights. You bring the team, we'll bring the questions. Also prizes.
-Magic: The Gathering. Open play nights and draft tournaments
-Dungeons and Dragons adventure league!
-Hearthstone fireside Gatherings
-Pokemon night! Cards. Trading. Battling. Friendship? 
-The great thing that you suggest and I help you make a reality.

But games are just part of the dream. I could do that at my house. This is a Game Cafe, after all.

-Fresh Coffee served by the cup or in a personal french press at your table.
-A wide variety of teas and sodas
-Snacks tailored to a gaming session. Candy Bowls, Hummus Plates, Chips and Salsa. 
-Hot, fresh paninis for when you game so hard that you work up an appetite
-There will be cookies for as long as my willpower holds out.

We've got almost all of the funds we need to get started, but could really use your help to get us over the top! We'll use the funds raised here to do some needed renovations the the space we're looking at in Downtown Milford, but also some VERY exciting things like putting in like

- A kegorator so that we have RISE coldbrew coffee on tap .
- A movie theater popcorn machine.
- A Library of Manuals for Tabletop RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons to support customers as they play.
-Nightly league play and tournaments
