If you LOVE them, set them FREE!

We are looking for funding to buy a used handicap van. We don't want anything fancy, just something safe and reliable.  

Our parents, Harvey and Debbie, are caring, lively fun loving people. They love nothing more than spending time with their children, grandchildren and friends. The problem is that their physical ability does not match their mental ability. They are both confined to a power wheelchair. In order for them to go out and be a part of society and enjoy life they need to be transported in a handicap adapted van. Their 20 year old van has served them well over the years but according to the mechanic it is no longer safe to drive and is beyond repair. 

Both of our parents have their physical needs cared for in a nursing home. It is their ability to go places that cares for their emotional and social well being. We can't imagine our parents not having a way to be part of our families' outside events. If it wasn't for their van they would not have been able to be at family weddings, funerals, holiday dinners, graduations or any other significant life events.

Although there are handicap transportation companies, they provide transportation to public places like a mall and not to a private residence or private event. We were hoping Uber or Lyft would be the answer but they don't have handicap vans in the suburbs.

Our concern and fear  is that not having the freedom to come and go will literally suck the life out of two very spirited individuals!
