Marrow Transplant Harsha Fernando
Harsha Fernando is a chartered Architect who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2010 soon after he lost his mother. This disease is a cancer of the bone marrow for which the only long term solution is a transplant from a donor. As he is an only child, the chances of finding a suitable donor is very low. As Sri Lanka does not maintain a bone marrow register, the task becomes even harder. Therefore, the only solution is to register on the Indian bone marrow transplant register and conduct an international search. He is receiving on going treatment from the Christian Medical College in Vellore. The money we are hoping to raise will be used to pay for the marrow donation and the transplant itself.
We are a middle class family and our father has had to support not only his immediate family but his parents as well. As he is self-employed his disease has taken a toll on his ability to generate income and has eaten into his savings. Because of this we see difficulty in funding future treatment. This is why we, as his daughters, have taken it upon ourselves to ask for help. We want nothing more than to see our father restored to his former, healthier self and for this to happen we need your help. We appreciate the time taken to read this and any amount donated.
Thank you
