Harrison Strong Project

The Harrison Strong Project began with a family grief stricken by the loss of their own infant child trying to help others who are walking the same walk in NICUs. Kendall and Josh Mull of Lincolnton, N.C., have done so much good in the past year, having delivered over 200 baskets of comfort items to families who have their own children in the NICU, and it would be great to see them continue having the support to continue their work.

The Mulls' son, Harrison, lived 18 short days yet touched the hearts of thousands. Now with the help of friends, family and volunteers, the family puts together baskets for the parents and babies in the NICU at Levine’s Children’s Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. The baskets are filled with many items: blankets, pillows, hygiene products, pens, word search puzzles, snacks, cups with lids, socks, locks for the lockers , hats for the babies, stuffed animals, etc.  Essentially comfort items you find at home but do not readily have available while tending to your child in a most stressful situation. These baskets are made with the most beautiful love, the love of a parent for their child, and given to other parents out of hope, inspiration and faith. Says Kendall of this mission: “(Our son) may have lived only 18 days, but I believe that this was his mission. I just knew that I had to carry that out with my husband. We both had this peace and confirmation that this was what we were supposed to be doing. Just the positive feedback from those families, that was probably the greatest reassurance that we could probably have. With each drop-off, we’re more and more healed.”
