Happy Go Lucky Surgery and Expenses

Say Hi to Happy Go Lucky.  Isn’t she pretty?  She is definitely one lucky little girl.

Happy Go Lucky had a rough start at life, born outside to a young mom, living on a busy street, finding shelter in an old window well that would fill with rainwater and having a massive infection on her right leg that would have killed her. 

Luckily she was rescued along with her 4 siblings and mom by a Cattitude Inc. volunteer and rushed to the vet for treatment.  Her leg was more than 5x the normal size and she was almost half the size of her siblings.  After extensive treatment, the best option for her to survive and prevent the infection from spreading was to amputate her leg.  How did the infection happen?  No one knows….BUT she’s doing great; she’s growing and getting around wonderfully!

It’s been 2 weeks since Happy Go Lucky’s surgery and she’s still in a little pain but having fun in her foster home and happy to be reunited with her mom and siblings.  Her siblings (all boys) are so excited to have their little sister home and are being very gentle with her.   How do you keep a happy kitten from jumping, twisting and flopping over?  You can’t.  

We are asking for donations to help our organization pay for the extensive surgery and aftercare costs for Happy Go Lucky.

Cattitude Inc volunteers have saved dozens of homeless kittens & cats this season including many orphan kittens, homeless pregnant mom cats, and homeless nursing mom cats with their kittens.  Our budget is already overwhelmed from the cost of routine vet care, feeding, spaying/neutering, testing, vaccinating, flea & tick treatments, and all the many other expenses associated with rescue.
