In 2017 Mike was diagnosed with Crescentic Glomerulonephritis and Wegener’s granulomatosis, which took him into Stage 5 renal failure which has him on hemodialysis three times a week for the last two years.
Untreated generalized or severe GPA typically carries a dismal prognosis, with up to 90%of patients dying within 2 years, usually of respiratory or renal failure.
Knowing the unfortunate reality of living on waiting list, Mike’s daughter Hannah tested to see if she was a match Christmas of 2017 because their family could not live without Mike.
Luckily, They are a match! However the family has been battling false positives for what they feared would cause the transplant to reject triggered by the drug Rituxan.
We have finally gotten good news from the transplant team and we have a date of May 21rst 2019 for the surgery that will save Mikes life.
Hannah is an independent contractor - if Hannah doesn’t work they can’t get paid and while battling the false positives we were unclear on a surgery date which has left us unprepared.
Hannah will be out of work may 12- June 9th.
Anything will help but we are asking for our friends and family to crowd fund to cover rent, utilities, car insurance and payment, health insurance, and their phone bill which they need as an independent contractor.
We will also be holding an art fundraiser as well as offering haircuts to people who donate locally
