Single mom Lyft driver, needs new car
$375 of $20,000 goal
I'm raising money to get a new/used car so I can continue being a Lyft driver. I finally found something I can do to support myself that allows me the time to spend with my 2 ADHD kids. They have spent their entire childhoods in daycare and afterschool programs, and while they were relatively safe, they need the special attention from their mother to learn how to navigate life with their unique gifts/challenges.
As my daughter begins high school, I know this is the last chance I will have to help her deal with the social/peer pressures that so often lead to depression and worse with kids who have special needs.
Our car is dying, I need a new/used one, preferably a Hybrid, to continue ridesharing to support my family. Any money raised will go toward keeping the car running, but the ultimate dream is to be able to afford to purchase a car better suited for ridesharing.
Please please please don't drink and drive.
Love yourselves and each other. Be safe out there. Every day is a gift!
Thanks to a wonderful friend, I was able to get the front struts replaced on my car and what a difference its made!!! Now all that's left to do really is the power steering pump, rear suspension and I think that's it for now :)
My big boy turned 10 last week!!! I cant believe it! He had a fun day at the racetrack with Mamaw and Gramps.
I still want to get a hybrid but since my old Honda gets such good gas mileage for an elderly lady, my first goal now is to get her paid off. I only owe $2700. Once that's done, I will have extra money every month for bills!!!
Maybe this is a dream that wont have to die!!!
The kids are doing so well, I really hope I can make it. They deserve it!
Again thanks to everyone who has contributed here or privately!!!! I am so lucky to have you all in my life!!!
If you need a code for a discount on your first Lyft , use my "pinkrideformoms" to get $20.
The real heartbreak is that the kids have been doing so well since I have been doing rideshare. I'm not sure how it will affect them if they have to go to some after school program... I don't want them to have to give up jujitsu!
Anyway I'm still driving while I look, but the car needs a few repairs. Some small and some not so small. Probably about $3000 all together...
It's been so great for so long. I have to thank you all again. I'm sure a door will open. It always seems to, just when I think I'm done for
I've never really written anything before! It felt so great to share my story and so many other drivers say they've had similar experiences.
I write this from the Honda service waiting room... So far only the driver airbag needs to be replaced.
Since I last posted we've been so super busy. I started the kids in Jujitsu. It seems like they will benefit from the class but we're also going to be practically living there. Ben goes Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Megan goes Wednesday.
They seem to focus better on homework after class.
I got to go on a field trip with Ben to the Autry museum. He panned for gold and I'll post a picture with his haul.
Thanks again everyone for supporting me on this adventure. I can really see the difference with the kids just from having their old mom around.
