Hallswood Hogspital
Donation protected
Hodmedods Hedgehog Support is a non profit organisation to help Norfolk Hedgehog rescuers and carers. Hallswood Animal Sanctuary near Norwich, have over 140 hedgehogs under their care this winter - so are in desperate need of a dedicated hedgehog hospital to enable them to continue to help these hedeghogs.
We are trying to raise the funds to enable us to build this Hogspital ready for next autumn, when the Autumn juveniles will start to arrive. Hedeghogs are becoming endangered and are disappearing fast, so we need to help them to survive the winter. Little hedgehogs born late in the year do not reach the required body weight to survive hibernation - so would die without our help. They need to be brought into a sanctuary and cared for for the winter months until they can be then released back into the wild in the spring.
The hogspital we need will be able to look after and care for these hedgehogs and with an outside pre-release pen be able to prepare them for their release back to the wild.
The building needs to be approx 22ft X 12ft, with good insulation, electric for heating and lights and plenty of cages for our prickly patients. It would also need an area for any medical treatment to be administered and plenty of storage for the food and equipment required.
Lets give our hedgehogs the help they need to survive so our children will be able to see them not just read about them. Thank you.
