Half Marathon for EDS UK

I'm running the Leamington Spa half marathon (Sunday 1st July) to increase awareness of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a condition affecting a close friend of mine, and to raise funds for EDS UK.

EDS is a group of rare inherited conditions that affects the connective tissue throughout the body. Connective tissue provides support in skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, internal organs and bones. So, unsurprising, EDS affects the whole body.

The symptoms vary wildly between individuals, making it particularly challenging to diagnose - it is not uncommon for a diagnosis to take decades. A few of the common symptoms are chronic pain, frequent dislocations,  fragile skin, joint hypermobility, digestive problems and fragile blood vessels.

EDS UK supports and advises those affected by this life-changing condition, aiming to help them lead a full and active life. EDS UK also funds vital research into understanding EDS and working towards a cure.

Running this half marathon will be a huge challenge for me as I am extremely new to the world of running (and I have really little legs)!

Please join me in supporting EDS UK. Any kind of donation is hugely appreciated!
