Mel Hell Trigeminal Neuralgia Fund
The money will go straight to purchase my TN meds that are waiting at the pharmacy for me.
I'm currently working with the Healthcare Marketplace to get my insurance back. And in about another week I should have a car again. God bless you for keeping us afloat in this unexpected crisis. Love you so much honey. I'll be back and ready to rock your face off soon!!
my good friend melissa waters (AKA mel hell) is great bass player, an excellent mother, a good friend, and a compassionate caregiver, all the while she quietly suffers through one of the most painful disabilities known to man. she aquired this condition through no fault of her own from a routine dental injection gone horribly wrong. the experts have said she has no legal or monetary recourse and that there is no cure.
this past july, there was an excellent piece written about melissa and her disorder, Trigeminal Neuralgia, in the houston press. in it she talked about how finally being able have insurance has helped her situation, that her medication was too expensive without it. a few weeks later, her older daughter avery pearl was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. melissa missed a lot of work.
the sweet relief for avery pearl go fund me campaign has been very successful. the sweet relief for avery pearl benefit show in august was a also a huge success, thanks to the dozens of musicians that played that sunday night, most of whom had never met avery until that night and some who didn't even know melissa. and of course thanks to everyone who came, it was a great turnout. the proceeds got the family through july and august. then the ball dropped again. melissa lost her health insurance.
although melissa is able to afford avery's medications and supplies, there have been times recently when she could not afford her own medication, at least once almost landing her in the hospital.
she is a board certified behavior analyst , she holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in applied behavior analysis. earlier in life she made plans that she thought would ensure a good life for herself and her family. she was very successful up until that dental office vist in 2011 that changed her life. there is no way she could have expected or prepared for something this tragic.
in her profession she has helped so many, let's make sure she can keep doing that. and let's make sure that in her family life she has the means to be well enough to continue to take great care of her girls, and make ends meet in a very complex and extremely sad situation.
Because of you, Dr. Cindy at Texas Children's says Avery looks "Perfect".
You helped us get her meds, buy our groceries, and pay our rent.
Most importantly, you gave Momma Mel peace of mind so she can focus on keeping Avery healthy and happy.
Mel, Avery, and Scarlet ♡♡♡
Y'all are absolutely sweethearts. We can feel the love for sure. As Mother of "Pearl", I am so lucky to have so many friends and family that care about her so much. Thank you ♡ Mel
