Ayuda para nuestro padre con Cáncer en Venezuela.

Queridos amigos y allegados,

A nuestro padre Alberto Rojas Hernandez le fue diagnosticado un cáncer de próstata Gleason 7, sumamente agresivo y que avanza rápidamente. Es imperativo y urgente practicarle una prostactectomía, que es una cirugía radical de extracción completa de la próstata.

Todos los exámenes y estudios sobre su tipo de cáncer hemos podido hacérselos en la ciudad de Lima, donde actualmente se encuentra con mis dos hermanos menores, a quienes visitaba despues de un par de años sin verlos. Como se podrán imaginar, los costos han sido bastante elevados y en dólares. Nos dedicamos de inmediato a pedir cotizaciones en diferentes clínicas y centros de salud en Perú, pero nos dimos cuenta de que los gastos de medicina privada son extremadamente caros y que nos será imposible que siga su tratamiento en ese país.

La opción más inmediata que nos queda es que regrese a Venezuela, cosa que nos da terror porque, aunque allá está su médico de confianza, todos conocemos bien las condiciones del área de salud y medicina producto de la aguda crisis socioeconómica del país. Como si esta realidad que nos toca enfrentar fuera poca, lo más duro es saber que nuestro padre de 72 años tendrá que pasar por eso solo, ya que no nos queda familia allá y no existe ninguna posibilidad de que nosotros, sus hijos, podamos movilizarnos para estar con él debido a impedimentos migratorios y de documentación. Sin embargo, no podemos darnos el lujo de perder tiempo; la cirugía debe efectuársele de inmediato, a sabiendas de que los costos pueden cambiar a diario por la inflación tan alta que hay en Venezuela y la dolarización general del sector salud, cosa que hace los costos muy elevados también.

Nuestra familia está más unida que nunca; estamos absolutamente dispuestos y abocados a hacer lo posible para que nuestro padre se recupere y pueda vivir sus años dorados que tan merecidos los tiene de la forma más plena. Es por esto que nos parte el alma tener que admitir que no podemos hacerlo solos.

Queridos amigos y allegados, necesitamos toda la ayuda económica que nos puedan brindar tanto ustedes como aquellos a quienes también les llegue esta petición que sale desde el fondo de nuestros corazones, heridos de impotencia y miedo de no poder solventar por nuestra cuenta esta situación tan dura por la que está pasando nuestro amado padre. Ninguna ayuda es poca o insignificante; cualquier aporte puede significar una diferencia sustancial y positiva en los resultados que con tanta fe esperamos.

Sabemos que no es imposible su recuperación; sabemos que manteniéndonos unidos podemos salvar su vida; sabemos que podemos contar con toda la gente que nos quiere.

Agradecemos infinitamente todo su apoyo y su cariño; en estos momentos, lo más ínfimo, créanlo, es mucho.

Dear friends and relatives,

Several months ago, we were able to have our dear father visit us in the different places where we now live. We hadn’t seen him for almost four years, as ours is one of so many Venezuelan families which have been separated due to the terrible crisis our country is going through. He’s currently in Lima with my two younger brothers, but he hadn’t been feeling totally well, so he underwent some medical exams and studies.
These showed an imminent prostate cancer, Gleason 7, which is highly aggressive and advances really fast. It’s utterly urgent to have him undergo surgery in order to completely remove his prostate (prostactectomy), and then the corresponding chemotherapy and radiotherapy for further treatment.

After doing a lot of research, we were forced to admit that we’re unable to afford his medical care in Peru, since it’s extremely expensive. We had to make the painfully hard decision of returning him to Venezuela where his doctors are, but where the conditions of healthcare services are knowingly in the most acute crisis our country has gone through. The worst part is that he’ll have to undergo surgery and postsurgical treatment on his own, because we, his children, are unable to travel out of where we currently are, due to helpless migratory reasons. Nonetheless, we can’t waste any time; the surgery has to happen immediately, even though we’re so aware that the costs are daily changing as the critical inflation the world is aware of, plus the dollarization of the healthcare sector, which makes everything more difficult and unaffordable.

Our family is more united than ever; we are devoted to our father’s total recovery, so he can live his golden years in the happiest way possible, because he deserves that. Hence, we’ve come to admit that we definitely can’t achieve this by ourselves, since we’re in no condition to cover the high expenses of his surgery, and postsurgical chemo and radiotherapy.

Dearest friends and relatives, we are in serious need of all the financial help we can receive from you and from everyone who gets to read this hearted petition. We are hurting and feel awfully powerless for not being able to take care of this terrible situation our beloved father is suffering. Any kind of financial help is useful; there’s no “too little” amount, because any number could represent a significant and positive difference in the outcome we are hoping for.

We know his recovery is not impossible; and we know that staying strong and together we can save his life. Moreover, we know that we can count on everybody who loves us. We deeply appreciate and thank you for all your love and support in these hard times.
