Team Unicorn

Friends, family, loved ones: in this season of giving we’re requesting help for a family in great need. John Bryan, loving husband to Fiona and loving father of three, is possibly in the final stages of a Stage IV cancer that he has battled against all odds for 18 months. 

It’s hard to describe John as anything but full of life. He’s both the vibrant athletic dad who has never missed his kids’ lacrosse games, and the welcoming dad who provides safe haven to the kids who prefer his marathon Dungeons and Dragons sessions. He’s a visionary who understood the need for sustainable energy storage long before the rest of us did. He’s a man who will fight fiercely for his principles while still offering you a hug and a respectful argument if you happen to disagree. He’s the guy who makes you feel at home no matter who you are.

We’re asking for your help in preserving that home for the next few months. The cost of living in California is astronomical, and the family’s financial resources are thin, with no reserves. They are facing the loss of the lease on their modest house at the end of this month.

We hope to raise at least $30,000 for rent, basic living, and immediate medical expenses to secure their home until their children can finish this school year in their district. Any additional funds would be used to defray their considerable medical debt and, after that, be placed in a fully transparent college account for their three children.
