A nurse for 42 years, now needs help

Donation protected
My mom is on the brink of being evicted from her apartment, losing her car, and losing her pets. Please read this and help out if you can. Thank you. Her name is Sheryl Diehl. She will be 69 years old this November. She spent 42 years as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at Norton's Hospital and Our Lady of Peace. She has had a rough past several years and it's killing me to watch her go through it. It all started 11-9-09 when she lost her son, my brother, to a car wreck. Since then, everything has been an uphill battle. She has been diagnosed with severe Chronic Kidney Disease, along with arthritis throughout her body. She is too weak and in too much pain to work even a part-time job. She does receive Social Security checks each month, and usually after paying rent, car insurance, and buying a few groceries, she has very little money left to live on. But, recently, she has had to pay off doctor bills that she has been putting off for as long as she could. This has put her in debt, and she still has more doctor bills to pay and more procedures to be done. My mom just keeps taking hit after hit. Her power will be turned off today. She owes LG&E a $279 power bill covering the past two months. It is owed today by 7 p.m., but she does not have that money. She still sent a check to them to see if the bank will let LG&E cash it, but the last one she sent them bounced because she is still overdrawn in her account. This is what we are focused on right now. My mom needs power, my mom needs heat. We live in Kentucky, and the temperature is only going to get colder from here. It's supposed to get down to low 30's - mid to high 20's. We're doing everything we can to make sure she is comfortable. At this point, that just means having shelter. We both are currently applying for SNAP (food stamps), and have made a couple trips to SeAM (Southeast Area Ministries). They are an organization of churches that help people in need. They have provided us with free essential food and have been a real lifesaver. My mom has not been able to pay rent, $675, for last month and we are crossing our fingers for a miracle to happen, or for her apartment complex to give her some type of generous extension, which would be a miracle in and of itself. All this stress has only made my mom's health worsen and it is very hard to watch, but I, we, will not give up. So, unfortunately I am still asking for a little help from you wonderful people. She is hands down the best person I have ever known and has supported me through everything I have done in my life. It's now my turn to support her. I am completely embarrassed to even make this page asking for help, but the money I bring in is just not enough for both of us. I want to thank you for even taking the time to read this. Any and every donation of any amount of money will help and will be beyond greatly appreciated. She is a wonderful mother and an all around good person who deserves an all around wonderful life. She resists. She is why I resist. Thank you. Also, if you could please share this with your friends and family, I would be so grateful and appreciative. Thank you for caring. There really are good and generous people in this world. - Jeff Diehl
