1. Executive Summary
New Hope for Living School has a vision to provide education to children with development disabilities in Soweto, South Africa where there is an immense necessitate for such educational services. Soweto is an acronym for "SOuth-WEstern TOwnships", Soweto originated as a collection of settlements on the outskirts of Johannesburg populated mostly by native African workers in the gold mining industry.
New Hope for Living School aspires to make a difference in the education of children with developmental disabilities in South Africa by incorporating a structured curriculum to fit the needs of the each student. We will accept all children with developmental disability without prejudice and incorporate specialized therapy as part of curriculum based on need.
Our daily activities with the students will provide a foundation that will enable them to live independently and integrate with society. All children with disabilities have the right to special care and support so they can live full and independent lives.
2. Services
New Hope for Living School will be providing educational services to children with developmental disabilities. Our education curriculum will be created in a way that it will cater for those students whose needs are severer from the rest. In an effort to make our services more beneficial, we will collaborate with parents to discuss each student potential and provide other skills to ensure self independence in their everyday living as well as financially by the time they graduate.
Other services provided will include but not limited to physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy etc. tailored to meet each students needs as part of the curriculum. Extracurricular activities will be available to enable students to participate in various activities e.g. sports, music, drama & technical subjects e.g. carving, painting, jewelry making.
2.1 Future Plans
We foresee a great demand in education for children with development disabilities and physically handicapped. In three years, we are planning to open branches in other parts of South Africa so as to bring the school much closer to our students. Our long term goal is to open other branches in different provinces of South Africa such as Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, etc. We also have plans to open similar schools within the regional countries and Zimbabwe has been identified as our next target once the economic situation has stabilized.
