Per Guy Hammond: This account has been created for me and my wife Cathy by our good friend Ashley Hockenberry who lives in Toronto. Guy and Cathy Hammond are a wonderful couple who have dedicated their lives to serving God through Christian ministry, counselling and giving specialized workshops throughout the world. As Executive Directors of Strength in Weakness Ministries, together they educate Christians on how they can successfully share the good news of Christ with friends and neighbors who have chosen an alternative lifestyle.
The Hammonds have taught over 60,000 people in faith-based groups and universities around the world. They are an unselfish and caring couple who have put the needs of others before themselves, have two children of their own in postsecondary education, and have also adopted two special needs children. Their ministry and life are truly a global example and impact.
Over the past few weeks, Cathy began experiencing loss of some motor function in her left arm, some balance issues, and occasional difficulties cognitively. They sought immediate medical assistance and a series of diagnostic tests confirmed on August 1, 2017 that Cathy has a brain tumor.
Further tests indicated the tumor was Stage 4 malignant Glioblastoma, and surgery was immediately scheduled for Sunday, August 5th, 2017, which was carried out. Now there remains ahead a long road of further treatments of chemo and radiation to bring the cancer under control, and alternative treatments are still being investigated.
During this time, the Hammond family will have little income as their salary is largely derived from their many workshops, teaching and speaking engagements throughout the world. They will both need to stay close to home and will be unable for a period to fulfill their ministry responsibilities, during which time they will still need financial means to cover current and new medical expenses.

Loved ones and friends, thank you for the overwhelming response shown in the good wishes and prayers you offered us over the last week. Let me give you a straightforward update on Cathy Hamilton Hammond's condition. She has been diagnosed with a high grade, stage 4 Glioblastoma. The neurosurgeons did their best to remove the tumor but were unable to do so completely. The doctors are prescribing chemo and radiation and are saying she has a life expectancy is 14 months.
We know that we serve an almighty God; the great physician himself, and that He is the one who will determine the length of her life. Please join us in praying the prayer that Hezekiah offered in 2 Kings 20:1-6. Please pray for the Hammond family as we navigate through this difficult time. Thank you

In addition to this already very challenging situation, Guy just received word that his mother who has been battling Alzheimer’s for several years passing is imminent – adding a burden of stress and sorrow on top of what they are already facing.
The Hammonds are simple people with a basic lifestyle, however, at this time they really need our financial support. They have been faithful and committed to others in a sacrificial manner, and have expected little in return. As you can imagine, this has been a very shocking and scary time for them and they are trying to navigate their way through information, doctors, and expenses.
