Hola, mi nombre es Gustavo Ramayo Camero, tengo 26 años, soy venezolano y me faltan 2 semestres para graduarme de Arquitecto en la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. Desde hace 3 años he padecido problemas respiratorios, los cuales me han obligado a usar un tanque de oxígeno, a pesar de ello, nunca abandoné mis estudios y siempre me mantuve como un buen estudiante de alto promedio académico. Actualmente me ví obligado a retirar el 9no semestre de mi carrera, debido a que tengo que someterme a una intervención quirúrgica de la cual no tengo fecha cierta por la falta de insumos médicos, medicinas y recursos económicos necesarios para llevarla a cabo. He sido diagnosticado como un Paciente portador de Síndrome Hepato-Pulmonar, probablemente relacionado a una Hipertensión Portal ideopática, cuyo origen no está claro aún.
Junto a mi familia y amigos, estoy solicitando ayuda económica urgente para la realización de dicha intervención, la cual consiste en un procedimiento para la inserción de una prótesis vascular a nivel de la vena porta, a través de la arteria yugular: TIPS (Transjulugar Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt).
En el año 2014 asumí el rol de muchos jóvenes universitarios en las protestas de calle, clamando por una mejor Venezuela, en donde estuve expuesto a la inhalación de gases lacrimógenos. A raíz de estos acontecimientos, empecé a padecer problemas respiratorios (falta de saturación de oxígeno, cansancio e hipoxia) cada vez más acentuados. Comienzo entonces a acudir a innumerables citas médicas, siendo sometido a múltiples tratamientos y terapias para la búsqueda de un diagnóstico de mi condición de salud, sin obtener ningún resultado.
Estuve hospitalizado en 2 ocasiones, y fui evaluado por médicos de distintas especialidades, sometido a un sin número de exámenes clínicos de todo tipo, lo cual en medio de la enorme crisis económica que vive mi país, ha ocasionado la descapitalización de los ahorros de toda nuestra familia. Mis padres, profesores jubilados de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, no devengan una pensión suficiente como para atender una contingencia de salud grave y ni siquiera con la máxima cobertura del seguro institucional con el que estoy amparado, se alcanza a cubrir ni un solo de los insumos necesarios para la intervención quirúrgica a la que debo someterme a la mayor brevedad.
En Mayo del pasado año 2017, retomé la calle después de casi 3 años de padecer esta, hasta entonces, “rara condición de salud” Sin fuerza en mis brazos y en compañía de mi novia y de mi bombona, dí a conocer mi historia, sin señalamientos políticos, defendiendo mi derecho a la salud y representando a los jóvenes y a todos aquellos que padecen alguna condición de salud y que necesitan urgentemente una ayuda humanitaria.
Gracias a estas acciones, mi caso de salud fue documentado y difundido a través de distintos medios de comunicación social nacionales e internacionales.
Los aportes que se obtengan con esta campaña se destinarán exclusivamente a cubrir los gastos necesarios para recuperar mi salud.

Hi, my name is Gustavo Ramayo Camero, I am 26 years old, venezuelan and I am 2 semesters away from graduating as an Architect in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at The Central University of Venezuela (UCV). For three years I have been suffering from respiratory problems which have forced me to regularly use an oxigen cylinder, despite this condition, I never abandoned my studies and always remained as a good student with high grade point average. Currently I was forced to withdraw the ninth (9th) semester of my career, because I have to undergo a surgical intervention of which I do not have a certain date due to the lack of medical supplies, medicines and economic resources necessary to carry it out. I have been diagnosed as a Patient with Hepato-Pulmonary Syndrome, probably related to Ideopathic Portal Hypertension, which origin is not quite clear yet. Along with my family and friends, I’m requesting for urgent financial help in order to carry out this intervention, which consists of a procedure for the insertion of a vascular prosthesis at the level of the Portal Vein, through the Jugular Artery (TIPS: Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosistemic Shunt).
In 2014 I took on the role of many young university students in street protests, claiming for a better Venezuela. At that time I was exposed to the inhalation of tear gas which, as a result, led me to suffer respiratory problems (lack of oxygen saturation, fatigue and hypoxia) more and more accentuated with the passage of time. Here is when I begin to assist to countless medical appointments, being subjected to multiple treatments and therapies in search of a diagnose for my physical condition with no results.
In two ocations I was hospitalized and evaluated by doctors of different specializations, I was submitted to a lot of types of clinical exams which, in the midst of the huge economic crisis that my country experiences nowadays, has caused the decapitalization of the savings of my entire family. My parents, retired teachers of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), do not earn a pension sufficient to meet a serious health contingency and, even with the maximum coverage of the institutional insurance with wich I am covered, it is possible to cover not even one of the necessary supplies for the surgical intervention to which I must submit as soon as possible.
In May of 2017, I returned to the streets after almost 3 years of suffering of this, until then, “rare condition of health”. With no strength in my arms and in the company of my girlfriend and my oxigen cylinder, I told to know my story with no political signals, defending my right to health and representing young people and all those who suffer from any health condition and who urgently are in need of humanitarian aid.
The contributions obtained with this campaign will be exclusively used to cover the expenses necesary to recover my health.
