Guinness' surgery and ICU care
Guinness is a friendly and loving pug and a big part of our family. He recently had what should have been a routine dental cleaning. He required several extractions, which is typical with the pug breed. He was discharged the night after the procedure and was given some oral pain killers to help him sleep. Things got progressively worse and fast once we got him home.
24 hours after returning home he started bleeding from his nostrils badly and vomiting thick mucous. We took him back to the vet where it came to light that he was never given antibiotics. His white blood cell count was high and he had a 104 fever indicating an infection. He was sent home with antibiotics and a steroid.
After just 7 hours after taking medication the blood was flowing heavily from his nose and he was aspirating vomit. Our only choice was to take him to an emergency vet. He has now been in the ICU for 3 days and is mostly stabilized but it still bleeding from his nose. Their theory is a fistula caused by the extractions, but can't be sure without putting him under again. He has been on broad spectrum IV and has not eaten much in days.
We have now racked up over $2500 in additional costs, with more on the horizon and we don't want to lose him because we could no longer afford the care he needs right now.
Our family would never be the same without him and this is a desperate plea for help if you can find it in your heart to donate to his cause. Any amount will help.
Thank you
