While at work on January 23rd, newlyweds Katie and Ben Guffey received terrible news that their trailer was on fire. They had been living in the trailer onsite while building their first home together. It contained the majority of their belongings as well as memories of their wedding. Firefighters acted immediately, but by the time they extinguished the blaze, there was nothing left of the trailer or anything inside.
Fortunately, their dog, Chessie, was not at home. Their two kittens managed to escape with some minor burns and are currently being treated at the vet.
The trailer is a total loss. In addition to the vet bill and the huge list of everyday necessities like clothes and shoes that will need to be replaced, they've lost:
• All of their valuables
• Wedding gifts and gift cards
• All of their important paperwork, permits, and plans for their new house
• Passports, birth certificates, social security cards, marriage license
• Invaluable things like wedding keepsakes, travel souvenirs, a wooden box Ben made to secretly house Katie's ring when he proposed to her, and so much more...
