Guatemala 2019 with Jodi & Mazie
Donation protected
This will be my 4th time traveling to Guatemala to build houses for the Ixil people who were subject to a 40 year genocide by the government. This year is especially exciting for me because my daughter Mazie will be joining me! Our fundraising efforts will help assist in the cost of building expenses for the homes and our basic travel costs.
These people are tough and kind and humble and able to survive anything. Most of them have suffered great loss and torture. Not just of property, but of family members. They have been working diligently to rebuild their lives since the 90s but the devastation of war left little to work with.
This year we will build 15 houses, each with a stove so they don't have to build fires on the floor, as well as gardening tools, and hopefully livestock. It costs us around $400 to build each home. We will also be purchasing shoes for the 80+ students of the school/feeding program that we fund. Any support would be greatly appreciated, whether prayers, thoughts or financial donations!
Our team is departing on March 7th and we are certainly excited to get to work!
