Guardians of Gaia: The Album!

We recently revamped this fundraiser to focus on getting help with the producing of a "Guardians of Gaia" Album.   The first $350 of this fundraiser was actually raised this past Aug/Sept to help with costs incurred from mounting a showcase on Sept 23rd. 

"Guardians of Gaia" was presented for the first time in 2016 as a workshop performance at Atlanta's 7 Stages.

The album will be an musical adaptation/concert version of the show as well as include pieces by other artists that are congruent with the themes of "Guardians of Gaia".  It will be co-produced with Angela Hutchins of Kaizen Records.


The current pieces slated to be produced, which you can be listed as the producer of and/or have dedicated to someone (for a donation of $200 or higher), are:

1. Indra's Net-  addition of new vocals: lyrics from the Rig Veda, music by Anahata Iradah- about the interconnected web of the universe; spoken word meditation inspired by Joanna Macy 
2. Pele's Passion - based on Pele's monologue in the show written by Marquetta Dupree- all about the creative/destructive/rebirthing power of the fire in the earth/in us 
3. Ashe Osun: a song in praise of Osun's sweet fresh waters
4. We Are One: song and spoken word based on White Buffalo Calve's monologue written by Vivian Slade
5. Break Down: based on the "destruction scene"- soundscape with news soundbites/statistics and improvised vocals (very electric!)
6. Returning to the Mother: spoken word from the end of the show intermixed with Jennifer Berezan's chorus from her song of the same name
7. Guardian of Gaia: hip hop style theme song
8. New Universe: creating a new world/universe - "now's the time to free your mind and realize your universe" song by Vivian Slade
9. Mother Earth-  song by Angela Bennett; original recording  by The Pacha Mamas  -will be adding additional instrumentation. Listen to the original recording HERE


(9 additional pieces on the album will be by a variety of artists  who already have produced pieces that fit the themes of the Gaia Project )

We are hoping to begin recording at the end of January 2018 and perform the concert version of the show for the first time during an Earth Day event in April of 2018.  It would be our goal to have CDs available to sell at this event!!!
