Grind Me Seattle Coffee

HI! My name is Carrie Wallace. A little over two years ago my wife and I opened Bauhaus Ballard with the long time owner. I worked for a year as his manager at Bauhaus Ballard to create the loving, friendly environment that so many have came to love at the cafe in Ballard. I eventually became his General Manager of all three Bauhaus locations. We worked as hard as we could, dedicating 14-18 hour days, 5-7 days a week, pouring our hearts and souls into something we realized wasn't ours and  possibly wouldn't succeed due to someone else's financial challenges. Finally in April 2015, we made the decision for our family to end our time at the cafe. The last eight months have been a very sad, inspiring and eye opening time for both my wife and I. Not only have we missed everything we helped make at the Ballard cafe but most of all our amazing employees and customers. The feeling we had while working to provide our customers with the best cup of love they could get and the friendships we made was irreplaceable. Now, in February 2016, we are faced with an opportunity to hopefully rent the old Bauhaus location, (located at 20th & Market in the heart of Ballard) Operating under our very own business name, GRIND ME. If this location falls through we have our hands on other locations as well. We are overjoyed with appreciation and excitement to even be considered to replace such an iconic cafe under our new name.  We need help to set up our dream cafe. We have a little help from family to get started and have applied for loans that will take months but will still need to raise additional funds to get the ball rolling now. And so forth, we are here to ask our friends, family and community for your help. Help us to produce the amazing family environment and coffee that deserves to be apart of the everyday lives we live; One cup at a time.
Unfortunately, we do not know what equipment we will left with upon the previous owners vacating. As of now we are assuming the space will be left empty and we will have to purchase everything new for our opening. The capital raised will go towards the following:
-Commerical space
-Remodel costs
-Licenses
-Espresso Machine
-Coffee Grinders
-Refrigerators
-Utilities Deposits
-Vendor Deposits
-Cafe Furniture
-Espresso Supplies
-Ipad POS System
-Develop Marketing Materials (labels, banner, stickers and signage)
My wife Heather and I both are committed and determined to the success of our community and our business going forward. We plan to rehire a few of the old employees who lost their jobs so close to Christmas without notice and to also keep the historic Twice Sold Tales bookstore located inside our business. With what we have saved and your help, we are certain we will have the funds to turn this once busy, happy and friendly location back into a Seattle staple. We appreciate every bit of support and look forward to serving you your morning cup of love. This business will succeed no matter our location. Together we have built a business plan, a 3 year financial plan and gathered over 20 letters of recommendation. Heather and I are determined to make our dream cafe a reality.  Although we appreciate all donations, we are also looking for silent investors to come aboard. All support is welcome, even just sharing our post helps! We both thank everyone for taking the time to even consider helping us fund our business, GRIND ME. The Old GM.
