On Monday, April 30, Dick went to the Urgent Care facility for back pain. During his initial exam, the doctor noticed two enlarged lymph nodes. One on his throat and one in his abdomen. We were then referred to an ENT and an Oncologist. After many tests, and scans, the collective doctors diagnosed him with cancer.
The urgency of the situation is pretty high. On Monday, May 7th, he will undergo surgery to remove the cancer, and then start a chemo regiment. At this point, we are unsure of the length and severity of treatment.
The up side: the specific cancer he has is very curable.
The down side: Dick will miss a significant amount of work.
Why are we raising money? Dick is a fantastic provider for Charles and I, providing 80% of our household income. Although his job is being protected during his treatment, his income is not.
We are asking for any small donation anyone can make to keep the household afloat, and offset some of the financial burden of the treatment. Every dollar helps. If you are unable to help financially, please feel free to share this fundraiser, or leave an encouraging message.
