My father, Greg Foster was one of the greatest track & field hurdlers of all time. I am asking friends, family and his fans worldwide to help me help him over this final hurdle. Several months ago he was diagnosed with a very rare disease named AL AMYLOIDOSIS and he now needs our help. We need to raise $97,000 to help cover his medical expenses. I’m starting this Go Fund Me account on his behalof. Please help me by donating and sharing the word.
My Dad has been suffering in silence. Until recently my dad hadn’t conveyed these feelings to many, including myself. I guess because of his pride, and his desire to consistently think positive, pray and believe that his heart is getting better he hasn’t let others know about his true day to day difficulties.
Right now the effects of this disease is more devastating to him than he’s admitting to friends, family and his fans worldwide. He’s expressed to me that although both he and his doctors are very optimistic and hoping for a full recovery, things get really rough for him some days. He does have more good days than bad ones but his recovery from those bad days take several more days. These rough days take a toll on him mentally and physically, not to mention the day to day financial burdens.
He’s expressed to me that there’s even Great days but they are far and few in between. During those bad/recovery days it’s hard for him to muster up enough energy to do anything including work consistently. Just standing and walking for him gets difficult during those times making it nearly impossible to work.
My dad is a doer, a worker and always a giver. He’s never been a taker and always a very hard worker. He’s never been one to sit around, EVER! He was always the first one to wake and the last one to sleep and throughout the day he was constantly working, work that benefits others. He’s done a hell of a lot for so many people, including many of my friends and he has never asked for anything in return. I personally know that he helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to help youth around the St Louis area receive over 15 million dollars in college scholarships. What he has done for my brothers and I over the years “IS PRICELESS”! He was/is always there, well before we ever need him.
He’s expressed how on some days he sits at home alone sometimes feeling depressed with no sense of purpose. “Feeling he has nothing to offer anyone.” Certain events (like the birth of my niece AVA, his new grand baby) help him get through tough times but soon those events pass and the days are again filled with emptiness.
My dad’s largest worry right now is fighting his medical cost battle. Fighting that one financial battle puts a major strain on his household financial obligations. He’s confident that because of his faith and beliefs, the physical challenges that he faces will get better. As for this financial hurdle, he must raise $97,000 to clear this final barrier. On behalf of my dad and my family I’m asking for your help. With your support, he can get his medical cost under control and really focus on the larger and most important issue, HIS HEALTH.
