Attawapiskat Greenhouse Project

This project is to design and build a series of 24' x 48' greenhouses in Attawapiskat. Attawapiskat is a remote fly in only first nation reserve on the coast of James Bay Ontario.
Imagine the impact on your life if your weekly groceries cost four times as much. On most First Nation reserves, fresh fruits and vegetables do cost four times as much.
I recently spent a month in Attawapiskat to access the challenges of building a greenhouse there. I discovered that a traditional glass and steel greenhouse wasn't practical for a variety of reasons including: harsh weather, long winter nights, vandalism and cost of electricity. As a bonus I found that the basic structure can all be constructed from local materials, eliminating transportation costs. There is also an almost constant wind in Attawapiskat, strong enough to produce electricity using wind turbines. The new Tesla solar shingles can be used to skin the building to produce electricity. The wind and solar electricty can be stored in the newest Tesla Power wall batteries.
The goal of this campaign is to build enough of these greenhouses to feed everyone in Attawapiskat within ten years. I am hoping to raise $250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand dollars) by December 31, 2018. Then the Canadian Federal Government, the Ontario Provincial Government, the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation, and the Canadian Diabetes Association will be petitioned to match it.
Using these combined funds, teachers and construction trades people can be hired to train people in Attawapiskat to build and operate their own hydroponics greenhouses. These people can in turn train Natives on other reserves. That way this greenhouse project can spread to all reserves across Canada. 150 years ago the Indigenous People of Canada were starved off their land. Lets use the next 150 years to help the indigenous people of Canada feed themselves.
