Since Monday (July 23rd) fire is raging in the holiday resort Mati in Rafina, Attica, Greece.

This morning, Tuesday 24th, firefighters found 30 people, families with little children, embracing each other, trapped dead in a field a few metres away from the sea. They were trying to flee fire, but they never made it.
In total, in only two days, at least 100 people have been reported to be injured and at least 74 people have been killed, but the numbers of dead people are expected to increase. People who managed to survive the fire, have lost their properties and have been left with nothing at all.

This is a national tragedy for Greece and the those who survived will soon have to face the consequences of having no home to live in.

Any monetary support would be a great help and every little counts. The Piraeus Bank of Greece  together with the fire-afflicted municipality of Rafina-Pikermi has created an account in order to collect money for those affected by the fire. Here you can find a link (it is in Greek) with information on how to support those afflicted by the fire, including the information of the bank account (number 7):

I am hoping to collect the £1000 and transfer to this account all of the money collected from this crowdfunding.
To all my British, Greek and international friends, please help us if you can. Every contribution -small or big- counts and could be making a big difference in people's lives.
Let's try to reach the target within 2 weeks. Please, also share this post to as many people as you can.

(I am a Greek PhD student permanently living in UK. This is an unprecedented disaster for Greece:  https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/greece-wildfires-live-updates-athens-latest-death-toll-news-mati-rafina-a8461271.html.
I have experienced no relative, friend or property loss, however my heart and thoughts go with those affected. I decided that I have to try and help as much as I can and this is why I have started this fundraiser. Please, help if you can.
Following the GoFundMe terms and conditions, all the donations will be withdrawn in my name and personal account before transferring to the Piraeus bank. Proof of payment will be publicly posted and will be sent to everyone when the transfer goes through.)

Dear friends,

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donations towards the Greek people affected by the recent wildfires in Mati, Rafina and Pikermi.

For those suffering, our help and support means everything at these times.

The campaign's initial target was £1,000 and we exceeded this in only 1 day. We have raised in total £1,760 and therefore I would like to wholeheartedly thank you for sharing this campaign along with donating money.

As the GoFundMe platform charges with some fees for its services (money deducted from the total amount raised) the exact amount of money transferred to Piraeus Bank is £1,686.13.

I have personally made the payment through my British bank account and I have personally covered the £10 charge applied for international payments. I have attached proof for both the amount of money raised after the GoFundMe fee but also for the money transfer to Piraeus Bank (I have deleted my personal and bank account information for my own safety).

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing support, words are not enough to express my appreciation.

With best wishes,
Vivian
