Roof for GreasyCreekFriendly Hostel

Hi this is Connie,  most of the hikers know me by my trail name "Cee Cee".   I began searching for properties near the trail in 2000 and found my home on Greasy Creek Rd. . It is nestled quaintly below Greasy Creek Gap on the Appalachian Trail, just 0.6 tenths of a mile off of the AT connected by an old jeep road.  In 2002 I opened my home to hikers.

Today the Greasy Creek Friendly acts as a refuge for weary hikers to rest, resupply and fill their bellies, especially during bad weather,  before tackling one of the tallest and most picturesque mountains in the south: Roan Mountain.

“The reason I call myself the Greasy Creek Friendly is because I want to be a friend to all hikers. That’s one of my goals…to help them on their hike and make them feel like they are just visiting a family member.”

Now I am asking for a little help to stay open and to keep on with my dream of helping hikers.  There is a short time after the rainy season to try and have my roof repaired.  That means I have a short window to fix my roof sometime in August.   This roof was put on about 90 years ago.  I am posting some pics that show how they just put the aluminum sheets right on the rafters.

I am just asking if anyone can spare $1 toward helping me with replacing this roof so I won't have anymore leaks and can stay open.  To all the hikers that have stayed here and everyone else please share this with your friends and ask them to do the same.   All funds raised will be going to my roof repairs. without the roof being repaired I will have to close down.

This will mean the world to me because this has always been my dream to help and be a friend to Hikers.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

P.S.:  To everyone that has helped me in the past with small chores I deeply appreciate it and thank you so much.   Without all of you I would have never made it to this point.
