WW1 ANZAC Grant for Grave Head Stone

Donation protected
WW 1 Australian Imperial Force - Soldier - Lance Corporal John Dwyer (SN 173)-  lies buried in an unmarked grave in Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth, WA, Australia.  Section ZA grave 354.

John was born in Kilkenny Ireland and had emigrated to Australia around 1911.

John joined 11th Battalion of the AIF on the 8/9/1914. The 11th was the first battalion to land on Gallipoli on 25-4-1915. John suffered several injuries including bullet wounds on the first day of the invasion and a bomb would when he went back in August. He then went on to fight in France for 2 years before returning to Australia. John led a lonely life in Australia and died alone of cancer aged 71 after suffering from his wounds of war all his life.
Before going to Australia, John was conscripted into the British RIR at the age of 18 in 1896, where he served for 12 years.

He lies in his grave unmarked for 70 years.

The Department of Veteran Affairs has agreed to install a commemorative headstone at his burial location to commemorate him.

However, the Grant of Right of Burial has expired.  The MCB (Metropolitan Cemeteries Board) of WA have indicated to regain the Grant the cost will be $2,355.

Thus, I am fundraising for this Grant amount. The War Graves Commission(WGC) hope to install the headstone in the next 6 months, once the grant is paid.

I am Peter Dwyer, Johns Grand Nephew, Kilkenny Ireland. I recently only discovered his story, 100 years after Armistice.
I am the official representative with the WGC and the MCB. I will be paying the money, probably in advance of any fundraising to the MCB.
Any excess in fundraising will be donated to the RSLWA (Returned & Service League WA) who support veterans in Australia.

I have attached some photos of his records and also some of the correspondence, I have blanked out the file records for the online application but can share further details with anyone who has genuine inquiries.
All of Johns records may be found on the National Archives of Australia by searching John Dwyer, Service Number 173 WW1.
