Grant's Wings of Hope has been established on behalf of the Geis family -- Michael, our sister Karen, Alison and Grant. The family has been humbled by and is truly grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from all over the country. Their faith and the support of so many people has sustained and enabled them to face the enormous challenge they're facing.

Their world changed in an instant. Saturday, November 17, started as one full of promise and excitement for Grant’s future. He and his parents visited the university he planned to attend next year. They had a great day. That evening, Grant had plans to meet up with his close friend André Morales and head to an event. In route, it all changed…

Grant and André were involved in a tragic automobile accident. André did not survive. Our hearts are broken and words cannot express our grief and deep sympathy for Andrés' family. Grant is in critical condition.

People have asked, “How can I help?” You can assist by commemorating Andrés' life and commitment to his community and/or with Grant’s health care costs by donating to their respective trust funds.

A memorial trust has been established in Andrés' name. The funds will be used to pay for the funeral service and ongoing, the trust will enable his wonderful, caring spirit to continue by providing school supplies for needy children in his community. Grant continues to undergo intensive-care medical treatment and after 18 days, has emerged from a coma. We are blessed beyond measure that he is receiving the highest quality medical care. We commend the caring and competent doctors and nurses, for whom we have the highest regards. We remain hopeful and put our trust in God and the medical community for his recovery.

Grant's path is expected to be long and arduous. This segregated GoFundMe account is to help with medical, lodging and recovery costs that are mounting and daunting. Donations will be routed to a trust specifically directed toward these needs.

Thank you for prayers and support. The Geis family has been profoundly touched and deeply appreciates the numerous caring and uplifting words, notes and gestures.

Sincerely, Kim Klemet-Smith & Kevin Ross Klemet
