This page was created for Tabetha, who was almost starved to death at a hospice facility in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. 
Tabetha was placed in hospice because she was mostly unresponsive after suffering cardiac arrest, which left her with considerable brain damage. The hospice facility was going to deprive her of nutrition and administer morphine until she died.
But just two days later, she
started communicating in short sentences, despite having a trach in her throat! She even asked for her favorite foods, but the hospice staff refused to give her nutrition through her feeding tube. They ignored my request to give her nutrition and stuck to their plan of administering morphine with no nutrition. This went on for 13 days.
I had to hire a lawyer and go to court in order to get Tabetha out of hospice, where her treatment there would have led to certain death. She was ultimately placed back in the hospital where she was finally given the nutrition she so desperately needed.
Less than a month later, Tabetha is now in a brain rehab center and has had her trach removed! Her speech is beginning to improve and at times she even sings along with her favorite songs as best she can. She is also eating soft foods and drinking liquids, and is now beginning to use her arms as well as learning to walk with assistance from the staff and utilizing a walker. But she still has a long way to go to be independent and return to her former life.
I have had to retain an attorney to insure that Tabetha gets the care she needs, which may include a more specialised medical program. The bills are mounting and we still have a long way to go. We need to insure that her care continues to move in the right direction. We pray that with your help, and Tabetha's determination she will regain the quality of life she once enjoyed.
