Goodbye to a Warrior

My sister and I would like to ask for help in giving our beloved brother, Joshua Heron, the send-off he deserves, after gracefully passing away on the 31st December 2018. In 2014, Joshua was diagnosed with a pediatric ependymoma. Since then he faced three open brain surgeries, 6-weeks of radiation, two rounds of gamma-knife radiation before putting his faith into alternative treatment options. We are heartbroken that on the morning of New Year's Eve he lost this battle but we have faith that he has moved on to a better place and that his story will inspire others everywhere.
Josh was taken from us far too soon and was diagnosed before he could set up a life for himself. His life for the past five years has been spent fighting this awful disease, and we can all agree that he did an amazing job at staying strong and persevering until the very end. This all means that he does not have any life insurance, no pensions or savings.
As a family we knew he was loved and that he touched the hearts of everybody he met, however in these past few days since we lost him, it has become apparent that he has gained an army of support from people all over the world. What my sister and I are asking is that we all come together and use this support to give him the send off he deserves. We are hoping to take away some of the pressure from our Mum, who has devoted her life to Josh and gave up work to care for him full-time, by asking his friends, and anyone who had the privilege to meet him, to help us in this time of need. It seems a little unconventional to ask for money towards a funeral, and we are not the type of people to ask for much, but we want our parents to be able to grieve without worrying about funeral costs.
The money will also go towards a headstone, once we have found the one that is fitting for our Joshua. Any funds raised that are not used on Joshua's send-off will be donated to Pendleside Hospice in his honour.
