Golden Fisherman Fountain

After four decades, the monument that was designed and dedicated to commemorate the coast’s seafood heritage and pay tribute to generations of commercial fisherman who contributed to the
vibrant economy and culture of the Mississippi Gulf Coast will once again rise in honor of the iconic Gulf Coast fisherman. We are delighted to announce the return of the Golden Fisherman.
He is an original 7’ bronze sculpture that was crafted at the Caggiati Foundry in Parma, Italy in the Emilia Romagna region of Northern Italy. Just as many of the immigrants of the seafood industry made that voyage across the Atlantic to their new home in America, so did the new Golden Fisherman. He will stand upon a 6’ granite base adorned with plaques with over 800+ seafood industry family names, as well as the names of all of the King’s and Queen’s of the Biloxi Shrimp Festival & Blessing of the Fleet.
The Museum worked diligently to save the original Golden Fisherman, but damage over time and the dismantling of the statue after it was stolen after Hurricane Katrina made it impossible to do so. He will be used for ornamental work such as oyster shells, mullet, and crabs in the fountain that is planned for Phase II of the project.
With help from the community we can complete this project and offer a beautiful place for families to view a tribute to their history!
