Cochlear Implant for Suamein

Four years ago, Suamein, our baby boy was born prematurely at only 25 weeks and weighing only .78kg. With tears and joy, Suamein entered our life as a miracle. While the doctors said that he would not make it, we believed that God had a plan for him. His first four months were spent under intensive care at the hospital fighting for life. As painful as the experience was, we remained hopeful that Suamein would one day return home with us and he did.

However, the celebration of his discharge from the hospital was short lived. After pursuing a series of medical examinations, he was diagnosed with profound hearing loss (deaf) a year later.
No words can express how overwhelming the news was for the family. The heartbreak, confusion, and lack of knowledge about his condition, quickly led us in a phase of depression. But from those darkest points, my responsibility and dream as a mother to see my child live and enjoy life like any other child was an impulse to campaign for his cause.

Unfortunately, despite using hearing aids for the past two years, Suamein has not shown any significant improvement and is not able to say any words besides “mom”. He still does not respond to his name and I am afraid that the device is not working for him. Based on research and medical recommendations, I am now seeking to provide him access to an alternative hearing aid procedure called the “Cochlear implant”. Due to the limited financial resources that we have expended over the past four years, we are not in a position to proceed with the implant and must rely on your kindness and support.
