Alfredo Barreto’s brain cancer

It breaks our heart to face Alfredo's medical situation and really wish we didn't have to do this, but we are really lost with what to do right now. Here is our story and we humbly ask for any support possible. In May 2019, Alfredo was diagnosed with a first brain tumor and he, immediately, had to be taken for emergency to a brain surgery called craniotomy on May 29th at Mount Sinai Medical Center located in Miami Beach. On the surgery, around 90% of the tumor was removed. The remaining part stayed due to its closeness to the other very important cells. After a couple of days, biopsy had been done, and doctors detected a Glioblastoma (GBM), which is the most aggressive cancer that begins within the brain. Therefore, treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy have to start as soon as possible. Treatments will be arranged at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Our ask:

For those that know Alfredo, he's a caring son, husband, dad, uncle, and friend who always helps out in the best way possible. He always puts his family and loved ones first and often times he forgets to take care of himself. He moved to Florida from Venezuela to be closer to family and also help some family members who remain back home. There are hundreds out in the world fighting this type of brain cancer, and we hope Alfredo will survive and heal as soon as possible to encourage those that are fighting, that it's possible to live long. Mental positivity is what represents himself. We thank everyone for all the help, the donation and also the emotional support and also the prayers.

The funds will be received by Maribel de Jesus, wife of Alfredo with the intention that they will be used for the medical expenses acquired.

Rompe nuestros corazones tener que confrontar la situación de las cuentas medicas las cuales son elevadas debido a la complejidad la de cirugía y tratamientos. Sin embargo, aprovechamos la oportunidad de utilizar este medio. Esta es nuestra historia y nosotros, humildemente, solicitamos cualquier tipo de apoyo posible. En el mes de mayo del 2019, Alfredo fue diagnosticado con su primer tumor en el cerebro y tuvo que ser llevado a emergencia inmediatamente para ser operado el 29 de mayo del 2019 en el Centro Medico Mount Sinai localizado en Miami Beach. En la craneotomía, alrededor de 90% del tumor fue extraído. Empero, la parte restante tuvo que mantenerse debido a la cercanía de muchas otras células importantes. Después de unos días, observaciones en la biopsia arrojo los resultados y los doctores detectaron una Glioblastoma.

Por lo tanto, tratamientos tales como quimioterapia y radioterapia tienen que ser ejecutados lo antes posible. Estos tratamientos nombrados serán realizados en el Mount Sinai Medical Center en sus distintos edificios. Para esas personas que conocen a Alfredo Barreto, saben que tan buen hijo, esposo, padre, tío y amigo es en esta vida. Una persona que muchas veces se olvida de cuidarse así mismo ya que su familia esta primero. El se mudo de Venezuela a Florida buscando oportunidades, y también, para poder ayudar a la familia restante en Venezuela desde aca.  Sabemos que hay miles de personas luchando contra este tipo de cáncer en todo el mundo y tenemos la esperanza que Alfredo supere este tipo de obstáculo en la vida. También, se recupere lo antes posible, pueda incentivar y darle a conocer a esas personas luchadoras que si se puede. Sinceramente, el positivismo de Alfredo es lo que mas representa su personalidad en estos momentos. Agradecemos a todas las personas por la ayuda, la donación y el apoyo emocional. La fe es lo ultimo que se pierde.
