The Dream
Former Division-1 collegiate athlete Connor “Merk” Mercurio is in the worst shape of his life, has never weighed more, and hasn’t run in almost five years. After putting on 35 lbs and recognizing how he let him self go in countless areas, he’s fed up. As he analyzes the reality of his feeble situation, a deep frustration stirs within. With the help of his best friend, Jimmy Stevenson, the two have decided to buck against the status quo, uproot their western influenced, quick fix, consumer lives and move to the mountains of Flagstaff, Arizona. The goal - train to perfection for one year to see Merk achieve his dream of breaking the 4:00 mile barrier. Is this an outrageously audacious claim? Undoubtedly. But that’s the point. Why settle for something less than your dreams? With the odds stacked against him, he’s out to prove nobody but himself that this lofty goal is possible. Along the journey Merk and Jimmy will transform not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well as they do everything they can for Merk to accomplish this iconic feat. The audience will get a unique view of seeing someone they can relate with, as he sets foot on a disciplined regime of radical life changes in pursuit of this goal. We hope this documentary transcends the running world and affects anyone who has a dream that he/she have been too sheepish to chase. What’s holding you back? GO4IT

How it all began?
It all started in a diner. Two best best buds that were fed up with the status quo of their lives started thinking how they could make change and get back to being disciplined men who set goals and went after them. Connor “Merk” Mercurio moved to Washington, D. C. a few months earlier, after coming off a difficult year that left him at a loss. During this explorative time of his life, Merk regularly rolled with his old college teammate, Jimmy Stevenson, who also was working in D. C.

Steak ‘n Eggs Diner, just north of Georgetown University, where Jimmy worked, became the incubator for their dreams. The two would mull over countless ideas on how to rid their old lives of the lack of discipline they came to know. Then there it was, the inception of #GO4ITFilm. While scarfing his face with eggs, Merk looked at Jimmy and said, “What if we moved out to the mountains, put these distractions in our rearview, and I pursued a sub 4:00 mile in one year’s time...?” Jimmy, well aware of the Rocky-esque nature that Merk possessed (considering they were Division I cross country and track teammates at Elon University) was on board in a heartbeat. After quitting his own job, Jimmy found two other guys looking to make #GO4IT decisions, who also quit their jobs, to join the crew and help document this moon shot journey.

What we release throughout this year isn’t just for the runner. It is meant to motivate anyone with a dream. Our aim is to help you push past your doubts and take (or make) opportunities to help you chase your dreams.
