GoFundMoo: Next Stop, Chemo
We were hoping she was invincible, but our dear, sweet Moo Moo has been diagnosed with lymphoma. It started when we noticed a swollen lymph node on her throat in November, which mysteriously went away after lots of uncomfortable and inconclusive tests. In February, a new lump emerged on the right side of her neck/shoulder, and it's still growing. Right now it's about the size of a pear.
So far, we have spent almost $2,000 on diagnostics (CT scans, ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc.) and we are still waiting on the final results. Moo Moo is being seen at the OSU Veterinary Hospital, where the oncology team is still putting together a care plan, but chemo is definitely the next stop. She will most likely need about 19 individual weekly treatments, which cost about $200 each or $3,800 total. She will need periodic testing to check her progress, which will most likely add up to another $1,000 at least.
Each visit to the vet hospital has left us several hundred dollars in the hole and things are getting pretty tight. We have drained most of the money we had saved to move back to Colorado in August, and we can't imagine going home without our sweet Moo Moo.
For those of you who know Moo Moo, she lights up a room and she is the star of the show. She came into the shelter where Val was working as a chunky, 6-month old, itchy mess.
Val rescued her from euthanasia and they lived the rockstar bachelor life for two years before meeting Melissa and her then pup at a dog park. Without Moo's charm and good looks, the course of our lives would be entirely different. She means the world to us and we need your help to give her the best care and the longest life possible.
We know that what we are asking for is a lot, and we are only asking you to give what you can.
