Trying to help my awesome mom!

Donation protected
My mom is 66 years old and lives in Michigan. She has been a nurse for over forty years.

In those years I cannot even fathom the number of people she has helped, comforted, and cared for. In the last twenty years she has worked specifically with the elderly and people suffering from dementia.

It is impossible to calculate the number of people she has helped; specifically when so much of what she has done has been helping people through death and dying. Yet, she hasn't asked for anything in return.

During the time I was growing up and going to school, she was also going to school earning her Bachelors and then her Masters degrees; while working full time and supporting me as a single mom.

Now she is living in Michigan and working as a visiting nurse.  She collects Social Security but once that has come through and she pays her mortgage and other bills she doesn't have anything left over.

I am a nanny. My boyfriend is a musician. While I would love to send her money all the time; I don't have much extra myself. Combined with her school loans which now amount in the $50K range (most of which is interest as the principal has been paid off); she is very stressed about money.

I know she tries to keep these things from me but I desperately want to help her. She is laying awake at night worrying about how she is going to make ends meet. No one who has cared for other people for over forty years should be in this position. She is in the position of making slightly too much money to qualify for aid, but not enough to often buy prescriptions she needs. Or food.

I don't know if this campaign will go anywhere but if anyone has a dollar or two they could donate, I would be so very grateful.

If I can raise $2000 for her, that would put her ahead, help her with some bills and make sure she could get through the end of the year without worrying. Last year her furnace died in the middle of one of the coldest parts of winter and I worry something like that could happen again and she wouldn't have any cushion to fall back on.

If I am lucky enough to raise any more money then that would help us afford a plane ticket so we'd be able to spend Christmas together.

I love my mom. I want her to be able to have a break from worrying about how she'll make ends meet.

Thank you so much for reading and considering any help you can offer.
