Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page. My name is Nicci. This page is a desperate plea for help on behalf of my husband and our family.
Unfortunately my husband was this week, Christmas week, given the words no one ever wants to hear: "there is nothing more we can do for your cancer". He has been battling this disease now for 11 years but it has become aggressive and is no longer responding to treatment. There are no more treatments available to him on the NHS so he is left to stare death in the face.
Here is a little more about my wonderful husband and our daughter Tiyana's one in a billion daddy:
His name is Glen, aged 37 from Surrey.
In February 2006 he was diagnosed with a rare type of lymphoma. Our lives were turned upside down - we had our whole lives plans ahead of us. Our daughter was 3 and a half and we had not long been married. So it all started: the biopsies, the surgeries and then the gruelling chemotherapy. We had to travel over an hour each way twice a week to St George's hospital in Tooting for the chemo treatment but remained positive. A year of chemo and the cancer stabilised for the next 5 years. We were so happy!! Then, in 2012 things started to get worse again and the cancer had returned.
From 2012 until very recently Glen has been having various different courses of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In April of 2016 we were told that almost all treatments had been exhausted but there was one let to try, so the treatment began.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas 2016, Glen was admitted to hospital on 3 separate occasions. This last admission was the one we had been dreading for the past 11 years. Glen was informed that the scan showed extreme progression and that the cancer had spread aggressively to his lungs, spine, abdomen and the area around his heart. All they can do now is help with Glen's pain but can do nothing to stop the cancer.
Glen has fought so hard over the last 11 years against all the odds. He has fought for our daughter's sake more than anything else. They have an unbreakable bond. She is 14 now and has grown up with the shadow of this nasty disease over our little family. When she comes to spend time with Glen at the hospital, even though he is weakened and down, she manages to brighten even his darkest moments and put a smile back on his face. I feel inspired when I watch the two of them together but have to fight the urge to cry as it is so heartbreaking.
But....we, and especially Glen are refusing to give up hope. The purpose of our plea and the reason for this page is that we are trying to raise the funds for Glen to have potentially life-saving immunotherapy treatment at the Hallwang Clinic in Germany. It is an extremely costly procedure but will be worth every penny if it leads to Glen living the life he deserves in the future. We want to give Glen this chance but sadly cannot do it on our own which is why we are asking for your help.
Everybody who meets Glen is blown away by his huge vibrant personality, his great sense of humour and his overwhelming kindness and love he has always shown. He has never felt sorry for himself and just wants to be able to have the life he always dreamed of - the biggest part of that is being able to see our daughter Tiyana grow up.
Our family is not complete without Glen in it. Tiyana needs her daddy and I need the love of my life. This treatment is his last and his only chance, so please, if you could donate whatever you can afford we would be eternally grateful.
