Glenn's Cancer Battle

When my brother was 6-week-old he was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma (a rare form of eye cancer).  Retinoblastoma is a rare form of cancer that begins in the back of the eye, it’s common in children. My little brother had to undergo chemotherapy and laser treatments for six months. After a year of treatment my brother end up losing his right eye right after his 1st birthday.  Although my brother has grown accustomed to one eye, we all make sure that he doesn’t feel different. My brother loves to “roast”, he loves basketball, and he loves people.

My parents made sure that my brother maintained his rescheduled appointments since being diagnosed with retinoblastoma and that mean bi-annually appointments that eventually went to annual appointments. Since 2010 my brother’s follow-up appointments have been clean as a whistle. Until February 13th.  My brother had been complaining of different joint pains and it had got to the point where it was hard for him to walk.  On February 13th, he had a bone marrow aspiration done to find out that the retinoblastoma cells had invaded 90% of his bone marrow. Our lives have been torn apart. The cancer has spread to a portion of his liver, pelvic bones, pleura, legs, and arms. After being cancer free for 8 years the cancer has returned and now it’s a Stage 4. As some may already know stage 4 is when the cancer has spread in numerous parts of his body.  He’s only 9 years old. He is currently going through chemotherapy every other day to kill the cancer cells.  This has affected our family emotionally and financially. My mom has taking off work to care for him and my dad helps whenever and wherever he can since he’s the only one working now. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
