Glasses for Students

I am raising money to pay for the costs associated with obtaining eye glasses for a select few of our underinsured or uninsured students at Wolfe Street Academy in Baltimore City. I am the school social worker at Wolfe Street Academy and every year, we have several students without glasses who need them to be able to clearly see the board or the words in their books. While most students have insurance benefits or are eligible for subsidies or grants through other funding sources, there are always some who have no options other than their families paying out of pocket or through fundraising efforts such as this. These students have either maxed out their vision benefit for the year, do not have adequate coverage or do not have insurance at all. Unfortunately, these same students are also living in poverty. Paying for glasses is a significant burden for these families who often struggle with finding the resources for basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. I am hoping to raise enough to cover the out of pocket expenses for glasses for up to 10 students. Your donations are tax deductible. Every little bit makes a difference, no matter how small.
