Within minutes of meeting Sean Malone, most people learn a few things about him: he is incredibly honest and open, his dog Bruce Wayne is quite possibly the love of his life (apologies to Sean's husband AJ) and he shines with positivity. Sean's sense of humor and kindness make him someone that everyone wants to be around. He is a very special person whose presence brings joy to so many people.

In May, Sean was very unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 Peripheral T Cell Lymphoma. Sean is 32 years old and has always been a healthy and active person. This diagnosis was obviously shocking to him and everyone who loves him. Thankfully, Sean is being treated by an amazing team of doctors at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). He began chemotherapy in June, and frequently completes the 1-hour commute to HUP for treatment.

In dealing with both the emotional turmoil of a cancer diagnosis and the physical effects of chemo, Sean is unable to work at this time. However, he continues to have many expenses. In addition to his usual expenses such as rent, car payments, and groceries, he now has the added expenses of medical bills and a long hospital commute. AJ has supported Sean every step of the way, attending all appointments while working his full-time job as an emergency room nurse. Unfortunately, AJ is no longer able to work overtime as much as before due to the number of Sean's appointments. Sean moved to Pennsylvania from his home state of Indiana, where most of his family lives, so he does not have family locally who can help him regularly.

Despite these hardships, Sean has not lost any of his positivity. He has vowed to fight this battle and beat cancer. It is hard to imagine dealing with a normal financial burden, let alone a large number of new expenses, while fighting cancer. Some family and friends have already given gifts and so many have shared their thoughts and prayers. Please join me in helping Sean and AJ by donating funds directly to them. Your donation will be used by them however they need, in hopes of lightening their load even a little bit.

Thank you all for your support. Please continue all of your positive thoughts and prayers for Sean on his journey to beat cancer. And please share this campaign with your family and friends!31780488_1533094338530318_r.jpeg

A message directly from Sean!!

Hi to everyone, this is Sean! I wanted to personally thank everyone for their thoughts, donations and prayers. It's meant so much to me and has definitely helped keep me fighting hard and staying as positive as I can.
I am going on 1 month in the hospital this coming Tuesday but there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel finally as I am slowly making progress and weaning down on the oxygen I am on. I am working with PT/OT to ensure I am able to do my day to day tasks at home and the drs are confident that I can get my oxygen to a level that's suitable to go home on for a short time to help as my lungs build more strength. This battle has been very tough on me and I won't lie, there were a lot of moments where I was so tired of fighting that I wanted to give up. I never did and I surprised the Drs and even myself with my strength and fight. I am not going to let this beat me because I have so much more life to live and so much more to accomplish in life. Plus I'm a Malone....we are very stubborn and don't give up! Everyone has been so amazing to me through this, whether it's been a Facebook message, a text or phone call. It's overwhelming and truly means so much. There are a couple people I really want to make sure I mention that have been here to visit me multiple times during my stay here that have helped brighten my days and keep me company when I was feeling lonely or a little upset. Shannon, Anuja and Sam. You three have been such amazing friends and I am so lucky to have all three of you in my life. I love you all. There's one other person who has been selfless through all of this and has sacrificed so much sleep and time to spend every waking hour he can with me and bring me countless things from home and that's AJ Campbell, my amazing husband. Without him, I wouldn't be here today! He truly is the most amazing partner/best friend I could ever have asked for. He works 50 hours even more sometimes and still finds time to come see me every chance he gets. I love you! ♥️ I want to thank you all again! Hopefully I didn't ramble too long but I just have so much to say that it's hard to put into words how much the outpour of love I've received from all of you means to me. I was struggling with a lot of this but I am keeping as positive as I can and you all have helped me in this fight! I still have a long road to recovery and I still have to resume my chemo treatments but I'm confident I will beat this! #Seanstrong

An update from AJ:

"Sean is still in the ICU, but he is improving. He was on 90% oxygen, they have him down to 60% now. They also ran a bunch of tests on Monday and found out that he also has Mono, so that may explain why he’s had such a hard time overcoming the pneumonia. He is currently sitting in a chair in the room, talking much better now. They are hoping to downgrade him over the next couple of days, but they don’t want to rush it. He is still on 2 Antibiotics for the pneumonia and now an Antiviral for the Mono and is still receiving high dose steroids IV.

Please continue to pray for him, he is slowly improving, but we’ll take the baby steps. Also, please continue to share Shannon’s Go Fund Me. She originally set a goal of $10,000... we’re almost there. Thank you to everyone who checks in on him, says a prayer, and who have donated. We love you all. He needs all the support he can get."

We are so close to our goal!! Please continue to share and keep Sean in your prayers.

Hi, everyone. Tomorrow will mark 2 weeks in the hospital for Sean. Obviously it's been a tough couple of weeks but the past few days have been particularly trying. Sean's pneumonia has been really hard on him and he has been having intermittent fevers overnight. Given these challenges, Sean's doctors are moving him to ICU to get his breathing under control and to provide closer nursing care. They are starting him on more antibiotics to fight the pneumonia. Hopefully, he will only be in ICU for a few days before being moved back to a regular floor. And we are still hopeful he will go home soon!

Please continue to keep Sean and AJ in your thoughts and prayers. Friends and family of Sean and AJ - please continue to share this campaign. I encourage you to write a personal post explaining your relationship with them and why this is so important. AJ continues to commute to the hospital 3-4 times a week and it is not yet certain when Sean will be able to come home. Every donation helps them on this journey. ♥️

Thank you to all of the people who have shared Sean's story and made donations so far. We have had donations from Sean and AJ's friends and family, acquaintances, friends of friends, and even a few people who do not know them at all. Sean and AJ have gotten amazingly uplifting messages from people who have similar stories, giving so much hope. There have been over 4,000 views of this campaign. I am confident we can continue to spread Sean's story by continuing to share this page. Every donation helps lighten their load as medical bills continue to accrue.

And on that note, Sean is staying positive as always! He has been in the hospital for over a week, where they have been trying to get his pneumonia (a side effect of the chemo) under control. He is needing a little bit less oxygen every day, but will likely be sent home with an oxygen tank to support him. Sean is excited to get home to spend time with his dog Bruce and to eat some pizza. Eating enough to maintain his weight while dealing with breathing issues is a big challenge right now - not to mention that hospital food is gross! He is doing everything he can to get better, get home and start his third round of chemo. Sean is a FIGHTER and will continue to work on beating cancer!

Please continue to share Sean's story and to keep him in your prayers!
