Please Help Someone Who Has Helped Thousands!

This is Scott Whipple. He is a US Navy Veteran having served on the USS Baton Rouge, a fast attack nuclear submarine as a nuclear machinist and is the CEO of Costumers With  A Cause. Costumers With A Cause is a  National 501c3 non profit children's charity organization. This organization gives 100% of the donations it raises for charity to that organization. They take none of those funds for themselves and has been doing this for the past 10 years.  They have partnered with several well known children's charity organizations like Make a Wish,  Give Kids the World,  as well as children's hospitals you're probably familiar with.  I think this goes to show the giving heart of the CEO of this organization and all the members as well, but that isn't what this GoFundMe is for.

Scott was driving from Illinois home to Florida on September 30, 2018 after taking a week of his vacation time from his full time job to participate in three Costumers With A Cause events in Wisconsin  and Illinois. An Elementary school, a  visit to Shriners Hospital, and the Make A Wish "Walk for Wishes" event.  On the way home on I-65, a man with three people in the vehicle that was going the opposite direction side swiped a car in the lane next to it and they both turned into oncoming traffic. With no way to avoid the accident, Scott, who was traveling the opposite direction hit one of those vehicles going 70 mph nearly head on.

The driver that caused the accident was found 10 miles down the road when after he fled the scene. He has been in jail since the accident. Scott sustained a traumatic brain injury, a concussion, contusions and abrasions, and his car was a total loss. We only had liability coverage to cover if WE were at fault in an accident and injured someone or damaged their vehicle and unfortunately found out after the accident we didn't carry uninsured motorist coverage like we thought we had.

The man who caused the accident is a non-US Citizen which is only being mentioned because others have asked us about suing him and the relevance it has in our GoFundMe. He has no documented income and no banking accounts,  no assets we can go after...there is nothing we can sue him for. He was driving under the influence, already had one DUI, and the car he was driving had been stolen and had been cleared a total loss when it had been reported stolen by the owner. The other vehicle involved in the accident that was side swiped and pushed in front of Scott was also a total loss.

Usually we are the ones providing the help to those in need. With great pride, we have a very difficult time asking for help. At this point, we have no other options and have struggled in even creating this GoFundMe. Scott has been off work since the accident happened because of the injuries and the symptoms he has been experiencing since the accident. He will continue to be off work for the rest of November and maybe through December. He has had 5 CAT scans so far and sees his neurologist bi-weekly. Initially he was admitted into University Hospital in Louisville KY and then to Tampa General in Florida. We know these medical bills are going to be tremendous.

The GoFundMe is to help in replacing the vehicle he lost so that when he is released to go back to work, he will have a way to get there (1 1/2 hr commute) and to help pay for some of the medical costs. We understand there are a lot of people out there suffering with similar and bigger issues. To be honest, we are out there fundraising for them like we always do with Costumers With A Cause, but this is different.  This is personal and Scott would never allow Costumers With A Cause to fundraise for him, not when there are so many others out there that need help too. That being said, any and all  help is more than appreciated as we work through this.

We also wanted to share that if the amount of funds raised goes beyond what we need, those funds will be donated to one of the Children's Charity organizations we support as Costumers With A Cause.

Thank you for taking to time to read this and share this. In giving of your time, in itself, is a gift.

Sincerely,
Jennifer and Scott
