Giving God’s Glory in Guatemala: G4Moms

Donation protected
Friends, at the end of September, the G4 Moms will have the opportunity to serve a church family in San Pedro Yepocapa in Guatemala.  Yepocapa is a small town still alive with Mayan culture located about two hours south west of Guatemala City.  It sits near the base of the Volcan de Fuego, a very active volcano. Yepocapa is the fourth poorest municipality in Guatemala with a poverty rate of approximately 74%. Nearly half of the population suffers from chronic malnutrition.  We are going to for five days to encourage and to share God’s love with the people of Yepocapa.

Our team is working to raise money to use towards serving others. We are partnering with an organization called Praying Pelican Missions who has helped us identify the community/church in need.   All the money we are hoping to raise will go directly to the church community in Yepocapa.  We have so many hopes as we pray about opportunities to build relationships with the church and the members of the congregations. I have outlined a few below:

• Fulfilling large church needs like providing chairs for the children and the church members to sit on (Approximately 275 chairs at $1,500), purchasing a drum set for the church (Approximately $800).
• Contributing to a construction effort to construct the first floor of the church building or building a playground
• Purchasing and distributing food daily to the families the church identifies as most in need (We will serve 750 meals while we are there totally approximately $2,500)
• Providing the children and youth members bibles and leading a vacation bible school (We will purchase art supplies, craft supplies, game supplies, for 3 days of VBS serving over 100 youth)
• Loving on the women and providing them with basic toiletries and education on dental hygiene (We are assembling hygiene kits with shampoo, soap, dental supplies, etc for over 100 women).

The scope of the needs is extensive and we are excited about seeing the impact our large community of friends and family can make. But most importantly, we ask that you would pray for our team before and during our trip!  For many of us, this is our first international mission trip and, as expected, we are nervous about leaving our families but very excited about the way God will use us and our time in Guatemala to serve His greater mission.  Thank you so so much and God Bless You!

Sincerely,
Ellen Grisette, Susan Nichols, Susanne O'Neal, Rebecca Coppedge, Mary Atkinson, Kodi Moore, Laura Belatti, Lauren Reeves, Avery Sadler, Robin English, Cara Barfield, Shelley Wade and Mary Margaret Shiver

Additional information:  Ellen Grisette will be acting as Treasurer for our Mission Trip.  We have set up a dedicated checking account under Ellen's name, but specifically for this Mission Trip.  The funds will be transferred into this separate account (so they are not co-mingled with personal funds), and then used to purchase the above mentioned supplies through various vendors.  A large portion will be used directly through Praying Pelican Missions for purchases (chairs, drums, Bibles, etc) made on the ground in Guatemala and payment for services (the cook) while we are there.  Additional funds will be used to purchase supplies for things needed to prepare and package before we do (for example craft supplies for VBS, Devotional books and journals for the youth, etc).   We are grateful for your support and will be good stewards of your very generous donations, making sure every dollar is spent where most needed to serve the community of Yepocapa.
