Paul Poulson Memorial Fund

Paul Poulson—master craftsman, unequaled problem solver, and the greatest giver—died on Friday, October 12, 2018. He left this world encircled by those he loved with fierce loyalty and passion: his beloved Becky and their children, Nathan, Kara, and Justin, and their grandson, Jackson. Paul was 47. He has left indelible marks from a life brimming with selfless service to so many. Paul's family now turns to those who were blessed by Paul's life and service. They need some of that same selfless love and problem-solving turned back to them to alleviate significant financial hardship arising from Paul's sudden, unexpected passing.

To learn about (or remember) Paul's remarkable life, you can read his life sketch here .

What Happened to Paul?
Paul was a talented craftsman who owned and operated Poulson Hardwood Flooring as a sole proprietor in San Diego. On October 9th, Paul suffered a massive stroke deep within his brain, causing him to collapse while working to install a set of custom stair treads at a home in Coronado, California. The injuries to Paul's brain were so traumatic that neurosurgeons could not save him after he spent four days on life support and in intensive care.

How Can You Help Paul Now?

As a sole proprietor in the construction industry, Paul carried health insurance for years. Then an opportunity came for Paul to secure more affordable insurance through Becky's employer and he was set to move onto that plan just weeks before his death. Unfortunately, Paul had allowed his prior individual policy to lapse as he waited for open enrollment onto the other plan. The uninsured costs for Paul's four days in the ICU are astronomical.

You can help us save Becky's home that Paul built. Ever the craftsman, Paul remodeled the interior of his family's home literally from the ground up--the flooring, walls, and built-in furnishings are all the work of his wonderful hands. Rather than allow this part of Paul's legacy to be liquidated to satisfy his medical bills, we need your help to alleviate this tremendous financial hardship. Frankly, this is just the beginning of a larger campaign to raise funds in Paul's memory to alleviate this particular hardship. Every dollar is deeply needed and appreciated.

Give "48" Thanks For Knowing Paul On His 48th Birthday
Paul would have been 48 years old this coming Thanksgiving Day--November 22, 2018. We are asking that you donate as much as you can in memory of Paul and as a tribute of personal thanks for the way he touched or influenced your life; even if you didn't know Paul personally, if you've read this far it is very likely he has influenced those you love or support. Please consider donating $4.80, $48, $148, $480, or even more.

You can give one last Birthday gift to Paul as his 48th falls on this Thanksgiving Day. Please donate. Every dollar will be used to pay down the medical expenses now in the lap of Paul's dearest loved ones. Any and all support is welcome, even if that means simply sharing this campaign on your social media profiles to spread the word.
